Keystone Tower Systems named Colorado Breakout Cleantech Company of The Year

The Colorado Cleantech Industries Association (CCIA) presented seven awards at the annual Cleantech Awards Celebration on October 16, 2019. Five organizations and two individuals were honored for their work in supporting and advancing clean energy in the state.

"It's important to hold events that celebrate the extended community of individuals, organizations and businesses working toward a sustainable future," said Shelly Curtiss, CCIA's executive director. "We've always been proud of Colorado's collaborative, cross-sectoral approach to solving climate problems, and this event gives us the opportunity to celebrate successes together."

Curtiss added "Cleantech is not an industry for the faint of heart. It takes creativity, persistence and more than a little bit of patience. In Colorado, that patience is paying off."

An audience of industry insiders representing business, local and state government, universities, research institutions and investors snacked on heavy appetizers at the Buffalo Rose event space in downtown Golden, Colorado, the first time the Cleantech Awards have been held in the historic town.

CCIA's board chairman, Ed Williams moderated the presentation, and said "As one who for years has been supporting the state's energy storage technology sector businesses, it's encouraging to see Colorado's energy storage technology companies really shine this year. The High Impact Award category that honors leading established cleantech businesses went to Forge Nano and their remarkable nano-coating technology that amongst other applications, dramatically enhances the performance of Li-ion batteries."

Hygge Power, the winner in the Emerging category honoring early-stage startups, is also a battery storage company.

The jury for the awards included representatives from CCIA's board of directors and key partner organizations who helped narrow down the field of nominees for four business categories based on criteria such as revenue growth, capital raised, major newsworthy announcements and staff growth between November 2018 and October 2019.
